Sea of Stinson

A great and wonderful place to stay in Stinson Beach is anywhere. The hills, beach, lagoon, and downtown. You can experience living in a rental house for a short period of time to a long period of time. There are also Motels, Bed and Breakfast, and cottages throughout Stinson you can stay in. For the cottages, they can be bigger than a one room house.

At Stinson Beach there is a motel called the Ocean Court. The Ocean Court Motel is shared with a Peaceful small TIC. The TICS are also for saleas little as $275,000 for two bedroom. The Motel Is Wonderful. Its the only motel i will stay at by myself or with my wonderful family and friends. There are two levels of the motel. Each Level features its own special thing. Some rooms will have large sky lights on the roof (if you are on the top floor) and a large living area will end out on a small Veranda overlooking the beach, and the town. The other upper rooms are much lighter than the downstairs and are the most wonderful. Whats really nice about the motel is that they allow dogs....but ONLY downstairs. The Downstairs is actually nice! Suprisingly i never thought i would say that since i always like upstair bulidings better. The downstairs features a long couch that spreads out onto a 3rd bed. (a couple of rooms upstairs features the same couch bed). Instead of a Veranda as the outside area there is a small private covered patio with a chair or two and a bench. It is also where dogs can go in the patio! But if the dogs make a mess in the yard, its best to clean it up. Also if you are downstairs, the Master Bedroom holds a beautiful view of the center garden where there are fresh wild plants, small trees, decoratives, and metal benches. Also Enjoy backrounds of Mt. Tam, and Stinson Beach Hills!

Every room in the ocean court has 2 Bedrooms, and a couch that also flips into a bed. (i believe that the other couches that look like they turn into beds stay as couches). There is a nice tiled bathroom with a high tall window, a wonderful kitchen that eats two, and has a bar so if you have some friends over you can lay out party snacks, or dinner on the bench. There is a small eating area up to 4 people in between the living area and kitchen, and each room has HBO Cable Television!! The Price is affordable, and there is a small pet fee. When you go with your dogs, make sure you have a tight grip on them because there are pet cats throughout the downtstairs and upstairs walking around and sitting on chairs. Its also a rule that if your door is open or there is a cat enterance (which i dont think there are anymore) you must respect the cats decision making weather if it wants to come in or not, unless you are allergic or have a dog in the room.

Prices range from $100-$140 night for one to two people, then $15 per extra person added to the rooms. Although it can be a large fee its best to go during a few days where you can relax and not just one. There will be other motels feautred on the list where you can stay a day or night and will not feel guilty about leaving behind a cottage like room. In the pictures below it shows one room next to the kitchen where a bed is usually at. instead there is a large dining table, also acceptable for large eating arrangements if your in the room!

The 3rd picture Features the Master Bedroom on the lower floor next to the garden. Also with EACH and EVERY Master bedroom there is a long wooden sliding door that hides your bedroom from the rest of the room! its VERY private. There is also a patio with chair and table to the right of the bed.

The Last Picture is My Family, My Friends and Myself setting off for an adventerous hike to The hills above the motel AKA Mt. Tam. We have our dogs ready to go. (photo taken 3 years ago). Dogs are only allowed on certain trails in the Stinson Beach Area and North part of Stinson Beach ONLY!

The Next Motel is the Sandpiper. The sandpiper is loated right across the street from Ocean Court Motel. It holds small nice, and dark rooms and VERY beatiful and pricey cottages with lovely gardens. The SandPiper was alright for me. Although it was probably a decade ago it was very dark in the upstairs room. The rules of the motel were also very strict, and now they are probably a lot different since so much has changed in the past 10 years. So recently i went oin their website sandpiper.com and checked out their rooms and cottages and their lovely garden. Its really nice like a honeymoon getaway. I would still call the Buidling rooms dark. But the building rooms feature open bathrooms for some, and a small kitchen and eating area with a bed and tv. For the Cottages they hold one-two bedrooms with kitchens, living areas, and small rooms. These Cottages are REALLY expenive and can cost to over $200 a night. But the nice thing about these cottages is that they hold nice furniture, nice curtains, private view, and a very nice garden which is actually for the hotel. The cottages are a bit bigger, not by much from the building rooms. What sucks about this motel and the others i am about to explain is that they do not allow dogs or any types of animals. The prices are $$$ way expensive (but each room VARIES), but if you are going for a week or long time i believe they hold a special cheap price which is nice! They also have tables, chairs, BBQ's and private hidden gardens with benches.

Prices of Rooms, Cabins-Varies from at least $95 night

The Last Motel in Stinson Beach is a rather nice and inexpensive motel settled in a large beauitful garden. Its similar to the Oceancourt because it provides for some large kitchens and nice big rooms. Plus, Each room is its own cottage or sharing of a cottage.

The Stinson Beach Motel. The Stinson Beach Motel has a total of eight rooms and three of them have kitchens. Each room is beauitfully decorated with tiles in the bathroom, nice clean sheets on the bed, private windows looking out to a garden and mountain, and a reclining deck chair out in front. These are all things you can find at any motel including the Oceancourt, but with this AND a private section of the garden for each room is something!

One person, one of my life long friends, rated the Stinson Beach Motel as "Musty, un-freshed smelled rooms." She said her two day experience was alright in the motel and would of been better if the musty smell hadnt been there, but other than that she said "the room is cozy, and does have a wonderful and beautiful garden out front."

When i went into the Stinson Beach Motel it didnt smell musty to me AT ALL then. But i only checked out one of eight rooms. The one that my friend stayed in had a large couch that converted into a twin bed, and a seperate private bedroom with kitchen, full bathroom, and a large closet. She also got to bring her dog inside to the motel after a long conversation and battle with the owner or worker who was there at the time. She had to pay $50 as a fee for the dog.

The Rooms get plenty of sun and each room has a wonderful sense of the beach. they seem very cozy and relaxing especially after a cold swim, a hike, or run on the beach....or a stroll along Stinson Beach. The cottages spread out from around 200 square feet to 500+ square feet and can sleep up to 4 people per cottage. The prices varie depending on the amount of people who are staying in the cottage, which room you choose, and  the season/time of week.

PRICES FROM $90-$250 NIGHT (it will only reach up to $250 a night if you choose the largest room with four people, during a holiday or weekend.

Now, there is Bed and Breakfast. its not the average place you see, actually quite artistic, including the REAL price underneath $55 a night. The sign does Say $55 a night if there is vacancy but i think thats only for the meals! the rooms themselves are partly expensive. I went into this house once to check out the rooms and every time i pass by it seems like its always cluttered with people, or a party of somesort, like a high school graduation. The yard is fenced off and partly private and is decorated with Stinson Beach Materials, and a colorful garden with random items sorted all over the place!!

The Bed and Breakfast is settled right next to the Stinon Beach Motel. I havent heard much about it or read much about it by studying but all i know is that you better have a large stash of cash in your wallet before the bill arrives! The rooms seemed a little tacky and out of style though. But the business does run its own taxi company throughout West Marin called Westmarintaxi.com
